The Molecular Ecology Working Group

Applying Genetic and Genomic Tools to Wildlife Management and Conservation

The Molecular Ecology Working Group (MEWG) of The Wildlife Society (TWS) aims to promote scientific advancement by applying molecular techniques to wildlife ecology, management, and conservation. We seek to enhance awareness of molecular ecology and genetic applications to wildlife biology and act as an informational and networking resource.  The working group is intended to be broadly inclusive of the various aspects of molecular ecology that may be applicable to wildlife.

What We Do

The Molecular Ecology Working Group works on many exciting projects to provide opportunities for our members and collaborators. Learn more about what we do and how you can get involved.

WORKSHOPS

We are continuing to expand our workshop series to encompass how next-generation sequencing tools are applied to conservation and wildlife management. Learn how you can participate in our next workshop, or review past workshop materials.

SYMPOSIA

We strive to be a leading example in cutting-edge, applied conservation science. We often host symposia at TWS conferences, such as the upcoming 2024 conference in Baltimore. Check out our upcoming events and review past seminars.

FIND A GENETICIST

At Molecular Ecology Working Group, we are dedicated to being a resource for those in conservation and wildlife management. We have created a "Find a Geneticist" database to match those who are searching for an expert to collaborate with on their project.
